Letter #1: 1892 Oct 8. To S. S. McClure. Refers to McClure's favor of the 28th regarding articles for their "syndicate." Peary writes that he will be glad to hear any proposition they wish to offer him. Letter #2: 1893 June 2. To S. S. McClure. Writes to acknowledge receipt of McClure's letter of June 1 as well as the proofs of his article from Mr. Williams. While he has not had much time to correct errors, he finds them to be in general accordance with his statements. Includes clipping of 6 portraits. Letter #3: 1893 June 2. To Mr. Williams. Writes that he has received Williams' letter and corrected proof, and has no objections to it being published, although he has not had time to revise it. He wishes Williams and his wife well and invites them to visit. Letter #4: 1898 June 23. From F. N. Doubleday to R. E. Peary. Central National Bank check for $250.00 made out to Lieutenant R. E. Peary and signed by F. N. Doubleday, Treasurer, S. S. McClure Company.

Robert Edwin Peary Sr. (born May 6, 1856, Cresson, Pennsylvania – died February 20, 1920, Washington, D.C.) was an American explorer and United States Navy officer who made several expeditions to the Arctic in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
